The wait.

We are finished! Done with applications and child preferred forms and autobiographies and interviews and fire/weather safety plans and references (thank you, by the way) and criminal history checks and physical exams and more interviews. Done! After our three hour meeting with our social worker this morning, our home study is complete. She hopes to have the study written up by next week and sent to Montgomery (the state office) for approval.
We learned today that approval consists of them (DHR in Montgomery) getting our paperwork. That's it. This surprised me, as I thought it would be a process in which we would be pending approval for a while and then get word after someone reviewed our file and said 'yes' or 'no'. I'm still not exactly sure how it all works. Not that it really matters, I guess. I'm just really relieved to know that this chapter of the adoption has come to an end. Now for the good stuff!
We are almost giddy with the anticipation of being matched! We can't wait to meet our little ones!

Thank you for sharing your great news. That is awesome -- you two are awesome! Jessica, I couldn't be more proud of the person you have grown-up to be. I wish I had been so mentally & spiritually mature at your age! You two will make wonderful parents, and I'm SO happy for that lucky/blessed little child out there that will soon be able to have a real live forever Mom & Dad. It is amazing to see God work through other people. Thank you both, Jessica & Jonathan, for sharing your special journey.
