Adoption Update

So as I mentioned in the previous post, the signing at DHR last week went really well. We got complete records from when the girls were born (whole charts from the entire hospital stay). We also got complete records of all previous pediatrician visits as well as ER visit records. It was interesting reading charting written by doctors and nurses that I currently work with in the ER about my children long before I had met them. They were taking care of my babies before I could.

We learned that little girl has had a couple of febrile seizures (!!!!) and has a family history of seizures. Wow! Good thing to know. We also got a more complete history (medical and social) of the biological parents.

The meeting was very much like signing papers when you are buying a house. We sat at a table with our social worker and her supervisor and passed papers and signed, passed papers and signed. For an hour! We signed saying we intend to adopt the girls most importantly but lots of others (times two...one for each girl).

We are using the same attorney who represented DHR for the TPR case for the girls. We like that she is familiar with the case and have heard only good things about her. I spoke with her today and she feels like we will have our court date in late April or early May.

It feels good to be here!

So glad you got the girls history. I am finding out quickly how important that is with these children. Snaggle has to have his tonsils and adnoids out next Friday and I was unable to give them any info on medical history. It really is important to have all that. So glad there were good records for you to have.

I am so excited...thank you for the update!!! :)

That is awesome!! Some of my coworkers actually changed my diapers when I was in the NICU 25 years ago, that's a pretty cool thought, huh?! I know what you feel about having those help you long before you knew it. God works in mysterious ways.
