It was decided by little girl, JD, and myself several months ago that when the adoption was finalized she (little girl) would go by the new middle name that she chose: Elizabeth. It took calling her Elizabeth a grand total of two times to realize that Elizabeth is a VERY long name to say 100 time or so a day so we shortened it to Lizzie. We've been calling her Lizzie more and more at home and the day school was out we switched over completely. She is now Lizzie D! If we slip up and call her 'A' she will let us know. "Call me Lizzie!"
We know that it's awkward (for those of you who know us)to start calling our child by a completely different name. It has become very natural to us (even big girl) to call her Lizzie but it does feel uncomfortable when we get around school friends and our church family who may not know that (a) the girls are being adopted (this is mostly school friends) or (b) why in the world we are calling our child by the wrong name. We'll have alot of explaining to do in the near future:)
It will be an adjustment but it is a decision we have made and one that we are all very happy about!

She does love her new name so much, and it was surprising to me how easy it has been for big sister to switch over to calling her Lizzie. After all, she has called her A for 5 years. I love the pictures.... those are priceless, especially remembering her lack of trust in the water with Jonathan last year. Love you all, GG
You are such a wonderful family! I love the name Lizzie! It seems to fit her well! I have thought about you a lot over the last few days. B moved in on Friday and it has been wonderful. I keep thinking about your journey....and although a little different than ours...still the same at heart! I'm praying for you all as this exciting month begins for you!
