We survived...and other stories

I know you are all shocked to know that we survived the check-up and the shots:) It wasn't as bad as I had anticipated though I did come darn close to crying when Lilah scrunched up her face and let out her loudest possible scream. The crying lasted seconds. Nothing being picked up, loved on and then plugged by her favorite paci couldn't fix. She weighed in at a whopping 9 lbs 4 oz (20% percentile) and is 21 3/4 inches (25%).
Now on to this sister...

Have you met my middle child? Little girl and her daddy both talk at top volume and have to be reminded often to "turn it down". Little girl is also impulsive and rambunctious. She wants so badly to be a good girl and is always so proud when she receives compliments but, bless her soul, trouble follows this child like a storm cloud. Because of these characteristics you can guarantee there will always be a this-is-not-funny-now-but-will-be-later moment in our day. Two from the beach:

(1)The girls were swimming and I was in a lounge chair. Lizzie yells (and remember the volume thing...YELLS), "Mommy somebody's breath is about to stink." I look up and see that she is only playing with her big sister so that must be who she is talking about, right? So I respond, "Oh yeah?" And she says, "Yeah, and it's a man."

Pause.

My mind flashes instantly to the discussion we've recently had about all the reasons you shouldn't smoke. The same discussion where for some reason the girls latched firmly onto the fact that you will have bad breath if you smoke.

Unpause.

I see in my periphery a man, the man who's breath is about to stink, standing by the gate and I'm sure he's smoking but I don't dare look over just in the off chance that he may think that comment wasn't directed at him. I lift my sunglasses and give Little Girl the ole stink eye so that she knows she's been inappropriate. When I think it's safe to look, I glance over and sure enough the guy is standing over there smoking AND he's looking directly at me and I feel as if he's letting me know that he got the message.

(2) And then there was the incident where I told the girls they could have some crunch and munch but not to pour the whole bag and little girl (because she has to be the first to do anything and without any help) dumps the entire contents of the C&M all over the table and into the floor. My mom hands both girls a plastic bag to gather up what has spilled onto the table. Those plastic bags of C&M made their way back to our house and the night we got home I dipped into one and popped a few into my mouth. What I tasted along with the caramel taste was something fruity and it was chewy too. Yuck! I take it out of my mouth and find that it is little girls already chewed gum...it had been in the bag she collected. Gag! She always saves her gum while she eats.
She keeps us on our toes!

What a beautiful picture of Lizzie! Yeah, the gum thing is disgusting and Ella wants to put hers on the side of her plate when she eats supper b/c she says that what Samantha and Lizzie do...
Glad to hear Lilah survived her first round w/shots. Nothing a little Motrin won't fix.

Sweet little Lizzie.... you definitely never know what to expect with her...but oh how sweet she can be!!! I pray for first grade and a great, patient teacher! Glad the shots are over for baby Lilah but mostly for you! Love, GG P.S. you forgot to tell about Lizzie trying to sling sand and splash water on every woman laying out on the beach and at the pool. She didn't miss many!
