Just a quick update...

We got this thick manual from our social worker last week:

We had been told in the past that the actual adoption would not happen until the child placed in our home had been here for three months but it didn't really register that for those three months we would be considered foster parents by the state (duh!). So, last week we got to sign the discipline policy and other documents that will apply to us for that short period of time.

Yesterday we got an email from the SW saying our homestudy was in the mail and on the way to Montgomery. We are saying prayers for that paperwork to arrive there and be processed quickly!

Also yesterday I became a board member with the Heart Gallery here in Alabama. I am SO honored to work with Michelle and the other people involved with this project. I can't say how much I truly hope to grow (in knowledge and otherwise) to become a greater advocate for foster-adoption. To (again) take info from the Focus on the Family site, (www.icareaboutorphans.org) "No more than 2 percent of those who consider adoption actually do." I want to help make that change! I could go on about this for quite some time but I'll spare you:)

Lastly, and most importantly, we have inquired about some kiddos listed over at the heart gallery. We are excited but are also trying to keep things in the appropriate perspective. It's easy to fall in love with kids that could possibly be ours but also heartbreaking. Pray with us for patience and peace as we go through this stage. We know that God already has our family planned and that in His perfect time they will be here with us.
