Words can't say how thrilled we are to have a date scheduled with our adoption worker for our last home study visit. During this last visit we will do individual interviews and complete any remaining paperwork that needs to be turned in/signed. After this visit our home study will be complete and our file will be sent to the State Department of Human Resources to be approved. Right now we aren't sure how long this approval takes but we are hoping the answer to that question is: not long. During this interim period our adoption worker can present children who "match" our family. We also have the option to search outside of our state (through AdoptUsKids and Heart Gallery of America) for children.
The big question is WHEN? And the answer (an answer that has been constant throughout) is: We don't know. In our minds it is sometime around March. We have planned a trip in February to ALASKA(!). Kind of a last trip before our family grows. March is also when I will be eligible for paid "maternity" leave from work. Our idea of March sets nothing in stone though. It could be before. It could be after. It really depends on how much time the matching process takes.
It is really an exciting time for us! Please keep us and our little one(s) in your prayers.
