Yard Sale

When we started putting the kiddo's room together it became evident that our excess left no room for clothing and toys. The closet and drawers in that bedroom (and other rooms in the house plus the attic and garage) were overflowing with stuff we didn't need. So I began making an ever growing pile in the floor while I kept the stuff we needed and made extra room for the little one. When the pile grew larger than I could tolerate I decided it was yard sale time. This past Saturday was the yard sale and it was fun to see people rummage through and find treasure in things we no longer need. One lady even hugged me when I gave her our old bed (for free because the railing was broken). This made for a funny moment as I'm a little quirky about hugs. I also got to meet two of our new neighbors. Overall, it was such a success that I decided to cancel it on the second day...there was so little left to look through.
Also this weekend I got a letter for the state and federal government saying my fingerprint background check came back clear and I am "suitable to adopt". FINALLY! This step has been holding us up for months. Literally. Jonathan's check has been back since long ago when we did classes with Alabama Baptist Children't Home. Mine got lost at that time and I was reprinted in September. What a relief to be able to move on! We expect to hear from our social worker early this coming week to set up our last home visit. And that, my friends, makes us happy (and a little nervous too!).
