straight from the mouth of babes

Little girl crawling into bed with me right around wake up time on a school day last week says immediately on seeing my eyes open:
LG: Mom, I want an X-ray machine for my birthday.
Me: An X-ray machine?!
LG(wide eyed and VERY excited): Yes! You can stand behind it and see your bones!

Now for big girl. This past weekend our yard was hit by teenagers. This sort of thing happens sometimes with a youth minister husband, ya know. String was tied around trees, the front porch, our mail box, you name it. Easily solved. The worst part...flour and cereal poured on our porch and in various places in the yard...on a night when it POURED down rain! Yuck. The girls were glued to the windows VERY interested in what had happened in our yard the previous night. Big girl became quite upset about the whole thing. Probably the most passionate I've ever seen about anything in our time together! "HOW RUDE! WHY WOULD SOMEONE DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS?! YOU NEED TO CALL THEM AND TELL THEM TO COME CLEAN THIS MESS UP! AND TELL THEM THEY AREN'T INVITED TO OUR HOUSE ANYMORE!" If JD and I were going to have gotten upset, well, it would have went out of the window right then. She was too funny! "WHY WOULD ANYONE DO SOMETHING SO MEAN TO US!?!" (this really went on for several minutes). So I explained to her that sometimes (a lot of times) teenagers do things they thing are funny but that aren't really funny to everyone else. Without hesitation big girl says, "You mean like when you got that thing down on your back when you were a teenager but you don't think it's funny now?" Yes dear, just like that.

Happy Tuesday!
