GOTCHA day

It's good to be back! A sign that life is falling back into order:) Little girl is upstairs napping and big girl is at school so I wanted to take a second to share how things happened the day we got them.
The day before we got the call I had not been feeling well, so that day I had a list of things I wanted to get done, the first of which was finish painting the kitchen ceiling. So, that's what I was doing at 11am when our social worker called. She said she had something she needed to talk to me about and then began telling me that there were two little girls in her office who needed a home. (Like, tonight?!?!) This phone call went on for about an hour with brief interuptions for me to call back and forth between JD and the social worker to pass back and forth information. We agreed to come and meet the girls and in the mean time tried to process everything that was happening. What a crazy morning!
So, after meeting the girls and talking to our social worker and between ourselves for several hours, we went home to prepare the best we could for two little girls. By 5pm we had children in our home. Obviously this is not the way things typically happen and not how we had "planned" for a placement to take place but as we say, God laughs at our plans, right? It has been one crazy week but we already love these girls beyond measure and feel so blessed that they are the children God has put in our lives.
The plan for our family is adoption but this is a legal risk placement so we do not know exactly when adoption will take place (soon we hope). For this reason, we will not be using the girls names here or pictures of their faces. Many of you have already met the girls and many others of you will be getting an email soon with photos.
Thanks so much for all your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes. I really cannot express how much love and support we have felt and THAT makes all the difference in the world. Love for these girls goes beyond just us and that is evident. Our family is so SO blessed.
Little girl has gotten up from her nap and is coloring quitely while I'm "finishing my homework on the computer". It's time to go outside! Good-bye for now.
